shopping with me: forever 21 april picks

Am I slightly creepy if I say that I enjoy when people post about their shopping process? Oh it is flat out creepy you say? Well, I guess I am a self admitting creep then because I'm not going to deny it. I love shopping posts. I felt like spending money on clothes (actual clothes! Not makeup, shocker) this past weekend. My mind was set on finding breezy summer tops and flouncy dresses. Sadly no dresses caught my eye but I found a fistful of shirts at Forever 21 that caught my eye. Wallet friendly and great finds. Ready to shop with me?

MINT
mint

I really liked the left minty top because it had interesting beading with strategic patterns. However I didn't buy it because the material felt cheap and it cost $30 and while that isn't expensive I knew I wasn't going to get much wear out of it before it 1. shrunk 2. fell apart. I did pick up the right top, the material was silky and the cut was basic. I didn't like it nearly as much as the first mint top but I knew it would look good with white shorts in the summer time and that it was a piece my sister would want to borrow from me.

BLACK & WHITE
My creation

I always have to restrain myself from buying only all black or all white clothing. The color palette of my wardrobe is pretty boring! But I wear everything to death. Practical! The polka dot shirt I actually saw someone wear so I had my mindset on finding it. Very comfortable material and adorable pattern. As for the tank, I am a sucker for black and white stripes, adding buttons just made it a done deal. I bought both of these.

COLLARED TANK
My creation

The collared sleeveless button up seems to be the trendy piece right now since I saw so many different styles of it. I loved both of my picks. The left reminds me of a tuxedo and it has black lace paneling on the sides. The right is a nautical piece, you can't tell from my shoddy picture but it has sailboats printed all over it. I do wish they were anchors instead, but I still thought it was a nice summer piece.

PATTERNED WHITES
My creation

I bought the whimsy floral top on the left but did not buy the eyelet double material top on the right. I wish the eyelet/jean top had a better fit because I loved the idea and design of it. It was too boxy on me, it made my body look not proportional.

What do you think? Do you like shopping posts? Has any cute summer dresses caught your eye? I think I will have to shop online for those, nothing in the stores tickled my fancy.

thrifty

if you didnt know, i am still obsessed with thrifting and DIY projects atm. at least it is a cheap obsession! here are a few snapshots (brought you by my craptastic phone. hey at least it has a camera eh) of pieces i picked up recently:

taupe silk tee
loved the fit, taupey color, and keyhole opening in the back (which i failed miserably at capturing. i tried ha) plus it is made of 100% silk.

ralph lauren oversized cable knit sweater
i ended up getting this. i plan to either wear it with a slip underneath or over skinnies. i love the huge size of it. if anything i can wear it lounging around the house. super comfy and laid back.

soft pink pleated blouse
weird buy for me since i usually dont buy pink clothing. but i LOVED the soft puff sleeves and the pleating in the front. made w/ mostly polyester unfortunately. but i can deal.

silk gold button up
probably my favorite thing i found. i love this shade of gold against dark hair, and it is incredibly smooth and soft. also made with 100% silk.

my next mission is to find a dresser for a decent price (of which i shall repaint and maybe...if i am daring...replace the handles) and perhaps make my own garment rack. if i find/do such projects, i will for sure post my before and afters :)

have a good wkd! sorry for the lack of posts. my laptop is being fickle with me so i am stuck with my sisters desktop (with none of my pictures to use for blogging. boo hoo)

oh if you were wondering, im wearing that turband i got from f21 here. and my diy levis again.

black skirt, magenta belt

today i had to run out to get some errands done and i thought i'd try to post my outfit. it's been pretty hot and humid where im at so i decided to pair my black flirty skirt i got from urban outfitters (UO) a couple years ago w/ my newly acquired magenta stretchy belt from american apparel (AA). this belt was 30% off at the AA i went to, so check out your local AA if you need colorful waist belts, they had various different colors when i checked.

white burn out tank- i got it at UO, the brand is BDG
white cami underneath- aerie
black skirt- BDG
magenta belt- AA
sandals- chinese laundry
flower locket- UO

my leaf headband is from target, i got it in cali. i think it's so awesome but it is so uncomfortable when i wear it all day! it is made out of metal and the prongs that go behind my ears really rub my scalp harshly after time. even though its not the most comfortable headpiece, i still love it. maybe i will try to make soft pads to put on the ends to make it more comfortable...

rings- f21
bracelets- american eagle
nail polish- essie turquoise & caicos

here is a closer look at my polish. i have been looking out for a nice turquoise polish and this is pretty, but not what i was looking for. i am looking for a more blue toned turquoise and this is too green. any recommendations? regardless i am really digging this shade.

the formula is really nice. very creamy and smooth. this is three coats but i could have easily gotten away w/ two.

more details on my makeup:

valentines day

i had an event to go to for valentines day. i didnt really take pictures, so i stole some from my roommate who did :)

forever21 strapless dress. parrin shoes from aldo

i actually don't really care for this dress at all, but it was cheap, i had it in my closet, and i didnt want to spend anymore money for a new dress. plus the pattern just screams (obnoxiously haha) valentines day. the shoes are from aldo, as i said in a previous blog, which i purchased recently (another reason i didnt need a new dress). they are very high heels, a bit hard to walk in if you arent a heel queen. but i managed ok in them for about 4 hours :) and they are so gorgeous. i love them!

for my face, i wore nars concealer custard concealer for covering blemishes. light dust of CG powder all over. benefit's hoola bronzer. bobbi browns pot rouge in blushed rose (my fave blush ever!) with a tiny bit of benefit dallas over to set it. i also used NYX jumbo e/s in cottage cheese as a highlight on my cheekbones and dusted Physicians Formula shimmer strips in vegas all over my face, chest and shoulders.

for my eyes i used a mixture of things. NYX jumbo e/s pencil in black bean, NYX e/s in reb bean pie and rust. MAC shroom for highlight. urban decay 24/7 eyeliner in zero. HIP truth cream liner in black. NYX false lashes. Hourglass superficial lash mascara.

for my lips i used my fave combo, MAC's myth and L'oreal HIP lip jelly in plush.
